done with another day

Everyday brings us closer to midterms, and I feel like I have nothing finished. My print isn't going so well, and although I learned a lot of interesting things from a few elderly women today the photos were terrible. I was much happier making landscapes. First is a lady who was the oldest of 9 children. Her mother died giving birth to the youngest. This was the only photo of herself she had. The next is bunny, who I spent over an hour talking with. She's 89, but you would never know it. She is one of 7 children, and the only one still living.

I love what youre doing laura... dont be discouraged. I know that its frustrating not getting what you originally planned but these photographs are beautiful. Dont get too worried about being different or making it fresh. these people are fresh.. these pictures are new... dont make it messy by trying to update portraits. You have such a cool style that these photos are yours. Dont be discouraged. You are doing great!

I completely agree with Gwyn. I think the photos are unique - regardless of if "they've been done before". The more you take the more the purpose will start to form too.

The top photo you posted makes it seem as if the old photograph is floating in front of the picture. The old age has fallen back and the past has moved forward again - the way memories do.

i love the "picture of a picture" quality...kinda like a memory of a story...it's slightly differant each time in transfer...
not only that...but i love that you talked to a woman named BUNNY! haha!

good luck continuing the process and DON'T get discouraged- these images are really looking awesome!
